I thought I’d share with you my simple natural hair care routine. Sometimes I get questions about my hair whether it be how I grew my hair fast or how I get my hair so big. A little fun fact I have been fully natural since 2016. I went to an HBCU during my first year of college and seeing what black women’s true hair texture looked like inspired me to quit getting relaxers.
Trust and believe I’ve done some crazy things along the way to care for my hair haha. One time I blended up a banana as a DIY conditioner only to have it get stuck in my hair for hours in the shower. Yup, not doing that again.
Anyways, I hope this helps!
#1 Shampoo
I shampoo my hair about every two weeks or whenever I see hair product build-up. The shampoo that I am currently loving is Sienna Naturals.
I love that it’s also clean and non-toxic and it smells nice. I like my routines to be an experience.
TIP: While, shampooing focus on your scalp and scrub with the pads of your fingers.
#2 Conditioner
I like to do an in shower conditioner before my deep conditioner. This one by Sienna Naturals is good!
I like to focus on the ends of my hair since it is often the driest and of course the oldest.
I finger detangle my hair with the conditioner and let it sit while I’m showering the rest of my body… then rinse it out when I’m done. Detangling my hair is way easier too with some slip.
#3 Natural Hair Masque
Deep conditioning is my fav part and the SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Hair Masque has been a staple since going natural.
I def apply a glob of this stuff to my hair. When applying this I like to detangle again, but with my HOLY GRAIL Denman Brush.
If you don’t have a Denman Brush seriously get one ASAP sis.
I then twist my hair into four sections and place a shower cap on my head to trap in the heat. Once the masque is on for 15-20 minutes I rinse out my hair with cold water to seal in the moisture and squeeze out the excess water.
TIP: Don’t towel dry your hair. Instead, squeeze the excess with your hands.
#4 Leave-In Conditioner
After my hair mask, I usually blow dry my hair straight on a cool/warm setting then apply my Ceremonia Guava Leave-In Conditioner mixed with a little water. This helps to regain softness, body, and shine.
#5 Oil
Last, it’s time to style and seal in the moisture.
Healthy hair is about 10-15% of water. Oil molecules are larger than water molecules, so sealing my hair with oil blocks the path and prevents water from leaving.
I really love Linne Replenish Everywhere Oil, and it has been my fav oil for a hot minute. I use this not just in my hair, but literally everywhere.
You can use code JEMAYXLINNE to save 15%.
To style my hair I like to keep it simple with a fresh braid out, twist out, or bantu knots. I did bantu knots in the picture.
Then I let my hair marinate overnight, and I have a fresh and juicy hairdo for tomorrow!
